AI song making

Posted by TenodiBoris - 10 hours ago

Have you tried Suno? I just did it,and it's creepy good. Even got that defeated jealous moment as an artist, thinking how machine in seconds makes something I learned and practiced for years, but then as I went in to program I realised this is not the end to art,but it's going to be end of generic songs making. That is also a job for many musicians, making jingles, background music etc but definitely not art. Not yet at least. I'm not really sure why did programmers had to attack art when there is so many other things AI can contribute, but it is what it is, what do you think about all of this? I'm eager to hear what other artists think about this new era of AI what is coming upon us

Fun Fact, AI taught somebody how to build a bomb, so they could blow up a cybertruck!

So long it's only for cybertrucks,I support the movement. That ugly thing needs not see light of day XD

@TenodiBoris LOL!

It's not programmers it's corpos.
GenAI isnt doing anything, its just copying, replicating.
What you hear is just the product of a weird mix of whatever is found on the net.

And corpos pass it off as "making", "doing", when in reality, the person using GenAI is just prompting.
Of course many people who are insecure about their abilities will believe what corpos say. "It's easier, it's the same bro trust me!!!1!1"

It's not going to steal your job or creativity or whatever. But if you use them, you'll be the one who will give your job and creativity to corpos.

Cmon.

My personal opinion, the reason AI art and music is so “bad” is cause it’s lifeless, it’s a being without emotion trying to show emotion, an illusion.

Although AI can be helpful, it just isn’t real work of art, of course it’s cool to see it make funny things, but overall it’s just lifeless, it’s not art, and no matter how good it gets, it will never be art. Because it doesn’t have what we have… human.

There’s something about our own creations that make us who we are, each one of us has our own unique style and ways of doing things, usually AI is programmed to do a certain style. We have our flaws, but sometimes those flaws is what makes our music so enjoyable… example? Well, you were born in 1988 right? You may have heard this lil tune before
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gc__QEzVh_M

There are so many things the song can improve in… then why do it like it? To me, it’s cause it’s fire, but to many, it could lead back to memories. But even with its flaws, it would be near impossible for AI to make such a song, because it has those flaws, those flaws have life… no matter how flawless AI makes a song, it will be lifeless, but human music can have flaws, but still have more life put into it then AI could ever. Sometimes you can feel how the music artist felt while making it, having fun, effort, struggle, silliness, etc… it’s better to have flaws and a soul, then to be perfect and lifeless… wouldn’t you think?

Well to me music is like magic and musicians(artists in general) like magicians because music is unique way to transfer emotion. How it can throw you into a memory or feeling from some event or even make you anxious about something thats going to happen...so yeah... Machine is still not capable of something like that...as @SouSTAR mentioned it's only copying

@TinFoi NOW THATS GOOD USE OF AI RIGHT THERE

@SouSTAR it’s also lifeless IMO, of course it gives a vibe, it may be creepily, but your never gonna find the same interaction with AI as an artist who works hard on their music.

I'm fine with AI music when it's something people mess with on their own time (whether to get ideas, make some shitposts, etc...)

What I don't like is people pretending they made it themselves and monetizing those, which is becoming quite a pain on Youtube.

Hopefully streaming platforms will realise they gotta put a stop to the plague of ai-generated songs in their platforms someday, but for now, it's here to stay.

There's one thing AI's won't replace, it's that you don't just follow the music, but the person behind it as well.
